SYNOPSIS
Rod Nowlin, a retired Navy captain and his wife Becky experience the world by sailing around it onboard their 45-foot cutter, “Mahdi.” Occasionally they sail alongside their “yachtie” friends, Joe Thompson and his Muslim (Saudi) wife, Amna and their 47-foot cutter, “Merlin.”
Rod’s previous affinity for Muslims had already been waning but after a Houthi Rebel attack and massacre at a police station helping a dozen prisoners escape nearby where they were staying in Aden, Yemen his displeasure grew exponentially. Especially when he heard their rallying cry, “First Yemen, then death to Saudi Arabia and then America.”
The CIA office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia works with the Saudi Emergency Force (SEF) in trying to locate this new terror threat emerging. The SEF has identified the terrorist from the Houthi movement and reveal that they are Iranian backed and more menacing and ruthless than Al Qaeda.
Meanwhile, Joe hopes that not only his wife and Rod can come to an understanding, but that Muslims learn to moderate and the West learns to tolerate “before we destroy the Earth together.”
Soon after, Rod’s brother asks a big favor; to take in his wayward daughter, Jamee, for a while, straighten her out and get her to an overseas college program in Saudi Arabia. Uncle Rod was happy to help re-educate and protect the niece he loved.
After almost perishing in a devastating tsunami the Nowlins sail to Cochin, India to avoid the horrific storm’s aftermath and try to calm Jamee who was now suffering PTSD.
Every time the Houthi terrorist leader and his followers show up to create mayhem, they disappear like a mirage, confounding the CIA and SEF.
The Nowlins and Thompsons continue to Saudi Arabia, having to pass through the Gulf of Aden (Pirate Alley). After they‘ve sailed, the Houthi terrorist leader who has been spying on them and felt slighted by them, makes a call to his terrorist brothers in attack speedboats, “Kill them all! And take the boats!”
Soon after, two speed boats with four men in each race toward the Mahdi and the Merlin. Rod goes below and grabs his 12-gauge, pump-action shotgun. The powerboats open fire raking the lengths of both sailboats. Bullet fragments give the Nowlins shrapnel wounds. Rod angrily and fearlessly stands on the bow and fires back. The Thompsons fight back with their only weapon, their steel hull and ram one of the pirate boats.
The amazing battle and struggle for life goes on, culminating in an unbelievable tale. Two middle-aged American couples do what many humongous ships, with huge crews can’t or won’t do; they fight back against terrorist pirates and are VICTORIOUS!
The American’s are welcomed back in Yemen by the Police and SEF as conquering heroes! To everyone’s surprise their nightmare is not over. When the Americans try to leave, the Houthi terrorist’s cohorts attack offshore with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). Luckily the SEF was tipped off and they race out in their police boat and fight them off before the terrorist can improve their aim.
The Mideast and West work together to squash extremism.
